do you always have to tell him
everything on your mind
you know that too much
honesty can be so unkind
everytime you throw him to the floor
why are you surprised to see
he´s breakable
you always try to find
what´s holding him away from you
but do you ever see your anger
standing there right between you?
and everytime you throw him to the wall
why are you surprised to see
he´s breakable
tell the world that he´s breaking your heart
go tell the world
nothing´s ever your fault
go tell them all
every time you throw him to the floor
why are you surprised to see
he´s breakable
and every time you push him to the wall
why are you surprised to see

have you ever thought about what protects our hearts?
just a cage of rib bones and other various parts.
so it's fairly simple to cut right through the mess,
and to stop the muscle that makes us confess.
and we are so fragile,
and our cracking bones make noise,
and we are just,
breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.
you fasten my seatbelt because it is the law.
in your two ton death trap i finally saw.
a piece of love in your face that bathed me in regret.
then you drove me to places i'll never forget.
and we are so fragile,
and our cracking bones make noise,
and we are just,
breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.
and we are so fragile,
and our cracking bones make noise,
and we are just,
breakable, breakable, breakable girls-
breakable, breakable, breakable girls-
breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.

the booze
now this is going to be a little difficult, so stay with me.
how much does your life weigh? imagine for a second you are carrying a backpack. i want you to pack it with all the stuff you have in your life and start with the little things the shelves, the drawers, the nicknacks: then start adding larger stuff, clothes, tabletop appliances, lamps, your tv – backpack should be getting pretty heavy now – and you go bigger. your couch, your car, your home – i want you to stuff it all into that backpack.
now i want you to fill it with people. start with casual acquaintances, friends of friends, folks around the office, and then you move to the people that you trust with your most intimate secrets, your brothers and sisters, your children, parents, and finally your husband, wife, your boyfriend, your girlfriend – and get ‘em into that backpack – feel the weight of that bag. make no mistake; your relationships are your heaviest components in your life. all those negotiations and arguments and secrets are compromising. the slower we move, the faster we die. make no mistake, moving is living. some animals were meant to carry each other to live, symbiotically over a lifetime, star-crossed lovers, monogamous swans. we are not swans, we are sharks.

nothing to see here
"
it's easy to fight when everything's right,
and you're mad with the thrill and the glory;
it's easy to cheer when victory's near,
and wallow in fields that are gory.
it's a different song when everything's wrong,
when you're feeling infernally mortal;
when it's ten against one, and hope there is none,
buck up, little soldier, and chortle:
carry on! carry on!
there isn't much punch in your blow.
you're glaring and staring and hitting out blind;
you're muddy and bloody, but never you mind.
carry on! carry on!
you haven't the ghost of a show.
it's looking like death, but while you've a breath,
carry on, my son! carry on!
and so in the strife of the battle of life
it's easy to fight when you're winning;
it's easy to slave, and starve and be brave,
when the dawn of success is beginning.
but the man who can meet despair and defeat
with a cheer, there's the man of god's choosing;
the man who can fight to heaven's own height
is the man who can fight when he's losing.
carry on! carry on!
things never were looming so black.
but show that you haven't a cowardly streak,
and though you're unlucky you never are weak.
carry on! carry on!
brace up for another attack.
it's looking like hell, but -- you never can tell:
carry on, old man! carry on!
there are some who drift out in the deserts of doubt,
and some who in brutishness wallow;
there are others, i know, who in piety go
because of a heaven to follow.
but to labour with zest, and to give of your best,
for the sweetness and joy of the giving;
to help folks along with a hand and a song;
why, there's the real sunshine of living.
carry on! carry on!
fight the good fight and true;
believe in your mission, greet life with a cheer;
there's big work to do, and that's why you are here.
carry on! carry on!
let the world be the better for you;
and at last when you die, let this be your cry:
carry on, my soul! carry on!

_
what were all those dreams we shared
those many years ago?
what were all those plans we made
now left beside the road?
behind us in the road
more than friends i always pledged
cause friends they come and go
people change as does everything
i wanted to grow old
just want to grow old
slide on next to me
i’m just a human being
i will take the blame
bust just the same
this is not me
you see
believe
i’m better than this
don’t leave me so cold
or buried beneath the stones
i just want to hold on
and know i’m worth your love
enough
i don’t think
there’s such a thing
it’s my fault, now i been caught
a sickness in my bones
how it pains to leave you here
with the kids on your own
just don’t let me go
help me see myself
cause i can no longer tell
looking out from the inside of
the bottom of a well
i yell
it’s hell
but no one hears
before i disappear
whisper in my ear
give me something to echo
in my unknown futures ear
my dear
the end
comes near
i’m here
but not much longer

old shit / new shit
everyone loves you
nobody cares
an awful collection
of enemies and friends
congratulations to you
with sad regrets
i'm tired of the old shit
let the new shit begin
the psychic pain
of living in this world
is overwhelming me
again and again
a beautiful afternoon
inside you in your bed
i'm tired of the old shit
let the new shit begin
nobody loves you
everyone cares
none of them know what's
coming 'round the bend
congratulations to me
many happy returns
i'm tired of the old shit
let the new shit begin

don't want you to wake up
don't want you to wake up
stay under the stars
where no one can make us
change what we are
dreamers in the dark following our hearts
try to be silent
my eyes are too loud
sit back in my hiding
while you're in the clouds
one kiss away from what i have to say
don't want you to wake up
stay under the stars
where no one can make us
change what we are
don't want you to wake upit's almost the morning
one foot out the door
as i let the light in
to love you even more
may our minds lose the battle
may our hearts win the war
don't want you to wake up
stay under the stars
where no one can make us
change what we aredon't want you to wake up
stay under the stars
where no one can make us
change what we are

i wonder
i wonder, if i ever let you down
did you keep on moving
i wonder, when i took my feet from off your ground
did you keep on going
if you ever need me, just remember
all the times when we wandered free
if you ever miss me, don't you know
that i feel the same way
i wonder, did i ever fail you
did you give up dreaming
i wonder, when i had to go
did you stop believing
don't you know, every sould must grow older
our past belongs to you
and it should make you stronger
if you ever need me, just remember
all the times when we wandered free
If you ever miss me, don't you know
that i feel the same way
don't stop moving, you must keep on going
don't you stop believing, you should go on dreaming
don't stop moving, you must keep on going
don't you stop believing,
'cause it's people like you make the world go...
if you ever need me, just remember
all the times when we wandered free
if you ever miss me, don't you know
that i feel the same way
if you ever need me, just remember
and i'll always be there
if you ever miss me, don't you know
...don't you know
...we will meet again
...we will meet again
